KingsWeek 2025: A Call to Return, Reconnect, and Rebuild
Published on February 1, 2025
Beyond an annual tradition, KingsWeek is the culmination of our collective commitment. This article outlines the significance of the upcoming event, highlights key activities, and serves as a powerful call to action for every Kingsman to participate in celebrating and securing our shared legacy. It will also connect to the fundraising thermometer campaign.
In the annals of the King’s College Old Boys’ Association (KCOBA), there exists an annual tradition that transcends mere gatherings to become a sacred pilgrimage for every Kingsman: KingsWeek. It is a moment when the distant corridors of power, the bustling marketplaces of commerce, and the quiet halls of academia converge, bringing the brotherhood home. KingsWeek is more than a series of events; it is a profound declaration that our legacy is not a memory, but a living, breathing force that continues to shape our present and future.
This year’s KingsWeek, set to unfold from Tuesday, September 16th to Sunday, September 21st, 2025, is a powerful call to return to the foundation that built us, reconnect with the brothers who stand with us, and rebuild for the generations who will follow in our footsteps.
The week’s journey begins on Tuesday, September 16th, with a Virtual Conference at 4 PM. A new and vital addition to our agenda, this event, accessible via Zoom, is designed to bridge geographical divides and foster a global dialogue among Kingsmen. It is a forum for intellectual exchange and thought leadership, where we can share insights and chart a course for collective progress, demonstrating that the Kingsman spirit knows no borders.
As the week progresses, we will ground ourselves in both spiritual reflection and communal joy on Friday, September 19th. The day begins with a Jummat Service at 12 PM at the Mosque, King’s College(Annex), a moment of gratitude and reverence for our blessings. Later that evening, the spirit of camaraderie will soar at the Variety Night of Thrills at 6 PM at Freedom Park. This is a time to cast off the weight of professional life and simply be a Kingsman—celebrating our brotherhood, sharing laughter, and rekindling the bonds that define us.
The pinnacle of our week arrives on Saturday, September 20th, a day that truly embodies the essence of our journey. The morning kicks off at 9 AM with the Inter-House Soccer Fiesta at the College Main Campus Hall. It is a spirited return to the turf where rivalries were born and lifelong friendships were forged. It is a joyful reminder that before we were professionals, we were Kingsmen, defined by sportsmanship and the fire of competition.
The crescendo of the week is the Founders’ Day Lecture and Fundraising Dinner at 4 PM at the Federal Palace Hotel. This is not just a dinner; it is the most critical event on our calendar. We gather to honour the vision of our founders and to reaffirm our commitment to their legacy. This year, the focus of the fundraising dinner is on our collective duty to rebuild and enhance the infrastructure of King's College. The tangible results of our past campaigns, such as the rehabilitation of the Victoria Island (Annex) campus, stand as a testament to the power of our unity. We will show our gratitude by contributing to a legacy that will forever shape the future of our alma mater.
The week concludes on Sunday, September 21st, a day of reflection and governance. Our journey begins with a Thanksgiving Service at 11 AM at the Cathedral Church, Marina, where we offer thanks for the gift of brotherhood. It culminates at 2 PM with the Annual General Meeting at the King’s College Assembly Hall. This is the ultimate act of active membership. With an agenda that includes the President’s Address, committee reports, and the crucial Election of Officers and Trustees, the AGM provides every Kingsman with a voice in the direction and future of our great association.
KingsWeek 2025 is a clarion call. It is an invitation to do more than just attend; it is a challenge to engage, to contribute, and to leave your mark on the rich tapestry of our history. Your presence, your voice, and your support are what make this brotherhood a mighty whole. This year, answer the call to return to your roots, reconnect with your brothers, and continue the noble work of rebuilding our shared legacy.
